POOL RENOVATIONS

Sometimes the original pool design is still satisfying, but the need for repairs has accumulated over the years. It’s probably time for a renovation of your pool if the plaster is worn and/or if coping or tile is missing or loose. Leaving your pool uncared for in these areas can lead to excessive chemical usage, algae buildup, and potential structural problems if water has access to sealed areas.
There are five key areas of renovation: Interior pool surface, tile, coping, mastic and lighting. We will summarize those below.
Pool Surface
Today’s options go well beyond the traditional white plaster:
Plaster
Standard white; tinted plaster comes in a range of blues, greys, and even black.
Quartz
is a premium blend of crushed quartz, white cement, and mineral-based pigments. QuartzScapes® merges beauty and strength for a stunning pool finish. Natural quartz is one of the world’s strongest minerals and NPT’s QuartzScapes® interior pool finishes create reliable beauty that will last.
Aggregate
gives your pool or spa the natural beauty of a pebble-bottomed stream with a StoneScapes® pool finish. An inviting selection of colors and textures allows pool owners to express their unique style. StoneScapes combines artistry with durability and comfort to create the perfect finish for any pool or spa.
JewelScapes
combines the beauty of smooth, colorful glass beads with the highest quality pigments and aggregates for a finish that’s beyond compare. Your pool will have an amazing sparkle.

Tile
Tile covers the perimeter of the inside of your pool. The waterline should rest in the middle of your tile. Optional add-ons are to add Tile Spotters or Tile Trim on steps and benches for better visibility of varying depth surfaces under the surface of the water.
Coping
Coping is the term used to identify the stone or concrete material used to cap the pool shell wall. It is the closest material to the edge of the actual pool or the edge that attaches your pool deck to the perimeter of the pool. A popular coping today is often a natural stone, brick, or paver.
Mastic
Mastic is a putty-like joint that is a waterproof expansion joint between the pool deck and the coping. The mastic should be one continuous linear seal (similar to a rubber gasket), which is free of cracks and/or missing pieces.
Lighting
Similar to plaster, pool lights have come a long way from standard white. Color-changing LED lights can transform your backyard at night. The wide range of color choices allows you to create a stunning ambiance which can be changed with the push of a button.
